This theatre began as the McWhinney’s vaudville Opera House, that was built in 1873.  After a 1926 fire the theatre was rebuilt and renamed the State Theatre at which time it became a motion picture theatre.  Unfortunately, the structure fell into disrepair and was torn down in 1981.
